This is a Digital Memoir

The Halfie Project is an interesting phenomenon in my life.

It was purely a personal movement - a manifestation that appeared out of asking questions about myself, first to myself and then to others. It took root in my mind, first sprouted in the form of videos and then continued to bud and bloom as podcast episodes, photos, instagram posts…

But it has always remained firmly in my hand. Partly because all resources so far have come from only myself alone and partly because of fear. If I let this idea out into the wild, what will become of it? Torn to shreds by the audience who does not relate nor care to? Morph into a popular front for mixed asians everywhere, evolving into some other movement I have no control over anymore?

I’ve kept my personal thoughts and opinions to myself, unless asked explicitly for a special interview or research paper. Those thoughts were safely kept in a journal, which was safely kept in a drawer in a drawer, safely tucked in the corner of my room.

I suppose it’s time to let the ideas out and breathe, for better or for worse.
