Korean jewelry has a distinct look. Overall, Korean aesthetics are aligned with delicate handiwork, and blend clever ideas with pretty designs. Though Korea is known as a skincare wonderland, I have always loved browsing the jewelry. (Read my post on Jinju Nara 진주나라 and buying pearls for the wedding)

A quick talk about gold.

There’s a glittering trail of gold that can be found throughout Korea’s history. Crowns, hairpins, bracelets, dangling earrings, symbols of lavish wealth and status, have been discovered in old tombs going all the way back to the early dynasties. Travelers from as far as Persia wrote about how surprised they were by the amount of gold they saw on display in Shilla.

Finding cute jewelry in Korea isn’t difficult. There are little shops in every subway station. But to get the real stuff, take a visit to 종로 귀금속 거리 (Jong-ro Jewelry Town) to buy fine jewelry at wholesale prices. There’s endless cases to look through.

But for now, skip all that, and ooh and aah over my favorite gold hoops!

These are half-hoops by local designer PAUL VICE. He has a sweet collection of earrings and watches, but these are my everyday pairs. They’re the perfect weight and size, go with just about everything, hand-crafted in Korea and never irritate my skin.

(If you go through my personal instagram, you’ll see them everywhere.)

They can be dressed up, dressed down, evening, daytime, work, party, minimal, upscale - all kinds of likes. They’re incredibly versatile.

I think every girl should have a pair of minimal gold hoops.

If gold doesn’t suit you, there are the hoops in silver and rose gold, as well.

Check them out at PAUL VICE Korea :)
