Alocasia Flower Cafe

Some cafes I go to because of a special reason. Some cafes I go to just because I think they look nice.
This particular Alocasia Flower Cafe is firmly in the second category.
Actually, I came to this Acacia Flower Cafe because my photographer had discovered it and wanted to take some snaps of me and the interior. (He’s now a fully fledged interior architect and photographer, no surprise there.)
Spring had finally come and what better way to celebrate that than by surrounding yourself with as many flowers as you can?
The owner made me a special bouquet to take home that day. She is a quiet woman who at the time taught flower arranging classes. Is that an introvert’s dream?
But this is not the only Alocasia Flower Cafe I ever ran across.
Before this one, the original 점 existed by Sinsa Station. It was actually a spot where Cedric and I had one of our early dates, though come to think of if, I don’t think I’ve ever told anyone that.
We used to sneak around and meet in cafes around Seoul, pretending like we were just innocently meeting as friends until the one day I couldn’t resist and I put my head on his shoulder as we watched a video together.
It was raining the day we came to Acacia Flower Cafe. I came back later with my friend Tey to take some photos because I had fallen in love with place. Or had I fallen in love with the person with whom I had first visited the place? No point splitting hairs over that ;)
This location quickly vanished and was replaced by the forgettable Umbrella Cafe, which was soon transformed into another cafe. How like Seoul… always something new, taking over the shell of a once beloved place and erasing what once was there. I don’t know what it is about businesses in Korea but they tend to come with a bang and leave with a whisper. I was sad to see this one go.
If you want to have flower arranging classes, it looks like they’re still offering.
